Editorial Review

School Library Journal (Melissa Gross, Beverly Hills Public Library, CA )

These series entries provide information on a relatively low reading level in language that is clear and enjoyable to read. Cactus and Volcanoes present their subjects more from a classification than a process perspective. Hurricanes takes a sequential approach to a storm situation, while Tornadoes addresses readers as though they were personally experiencing one. However, it’s the breathtakingly beautiful photographs that make these books stand out. Extremely well composed and compelling to the eye, the pictures reach out and pull readers in. Most libraries will already have titles covering these topics, but Murray’s books are exceptional in their ability to speak to young readers.
