Editorial Review

School Library Journal (Susan Knell)

Each of these photo-essays has a simple text in large typeface with occasional cartoons or small photos opposite a full-page color photograph. The books are informative and factual; unfamiliar words are bolded and defined in the appended glossaries. Movie Theater takes readers behind the scenes to the projection room as well as to the lobby, auditorium, and refreshment stand. Bank highlights different types of monetary transactions and how they work. Unfortunately, the photographs show no obvious diversity, which could give some youngsters the idea that only certain types of people go to these places. Still, these easy titles are useful.
