Editorial Review

A noteworthy review of Our Cultural Heritage from School Library Journal on February 1, 2004

Cover: Asian Indian Americans

These short books start with a history of the featured groups’ respective homelands, and both accounts mention the tension between India and Pakistan. Also covered are reasons for immigration to the U.S., influences on American culture, and what life is like today for members of each ethnic group. Sidebars expand on the texts. Several period and many current full-color photographs round out both entries. The language is clear and the large type amid plenty of white space is inviting. Although there are other titles on Asian Indian Americans, there is little in print about Pakistani Americans, especially for this age group. Acceptable introductions to these cultures.
