Editorial Review

A noteworthy review of Laughing Matters from School Library Journal on June 1, 2005

Cover: Gross-Out Jokes

Rosenberg is a former teacher who obviously listened to the kinds of jokes the kids told and cracked up over. Here she offers three thematic collections, illustrated with vibrantly colored cartoons. Gross-Out is just that, and will probably be the most popular of the trio. It’s full of snot, boogers, and pee jokes with a page of particularly tasteless selections on missing body parts. In Historical, it would be helpful to have some knowledge of the people and events that appear. School features fast-food-serving cafeteria ladies on Rollerblades and witches who take ‘hex-aminations.’ Joke books are always in demand, and these titles will offer students some fresh material.
