A noteworthy review of The Timeline Library from Children's Bookwatch on July 1, 2005
A new and thoroughly ‘kid friendly’ series, ‘The Timeline Library’ is a very special six volume set dedicated to showing young readers how the society we live in came about as reflected in the invention and use of key technologies. These titles combine elements of biography, science, history, and even social studies. Each book features reinforced library binding for a durable library shelf life, a table of contents, a glossary, a comprehensive index, as well as websites and sources for further research. The thoroughly ‘kid friendly’ text is nicely embellished with informative sidebars, a timeline of key events, and a profusion of color photography and black/white illustrations. Even though each title can easily be acquired separately, school and community libraries would be very well advised to acquire the entire set so that their young readers will have a particularly thorough grasp of how these inventions have shaped their culture, their society, and the world at large, both now and in their future.
