Editorial Review

A noteworthy review of Magic Door to Learning from School Library Journal on February 1, 2007

Cover: Firefighter Tom to the Rescue!

While each title starts with a short poem that describes books as magic doors and suggests turning the page to begin the exploration, the format for the stories differs: Vet and Firefighter have straightforward narratives. Librarian uses repetition to build interest, and Doctor rhymes. The artwork in each book enhances the text. The last page suggests an easy activity, such as practicing escape routes (Firefighter) or planning a healthy meal (Doctor). These books provide a basic understanding of their respective professions and would be welcome additions to community-helpers sections.
