Richard Rambeck’s beginner’s sports biographies will also appeal at the basic elementary grade levels, using glossy color action shots of players to supplement biographical details on their achievements. Anfernee Hardaway and Michael Jordan each profile the basketball players’ lives and development; Dan Marino and Steve Young cover the football stars; Monica Seles and Pete Sampras covers the two tennis stars; Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Greg Maddux cover the runner and baseball players’ lives. While these are by no means in depth coverages, they do review facts and major games and encourage kids to learn through reading.
