A noteworthy review of American Tall Tales from Library Media Connection on May 1, 2013

Cover: Casey Jones

Tall tales are a form of storytelling focused on characters who have been made bigger than life, providing entertainment and sometimes history. These tall tales are retold in an appealing manner, each is told as a narrative that draws the reader into the story. The language is simple and the illustrations enhance the text. ‘Beyond the Story’ at the end of each book provides background on tall tales, specifically the featured characters. This series is very child-friendly and appealing. Tall tales are an important genre and this series belongs in the school library. [Editor’s Note: Available in e-book format.]
