A Review of "Aesop's Fables" in Children's Bookwatch
Classic Greek literature that has proved both popular and relevant generation after generation down through the centuries is best exemplified by the collection of stories known as ’Aesop’s Fables’. More than being simple entertainments, each anthropomorphic tale carried a special moral that was unique accessible and understanding. Now eight of these timeless tales have been retold by Graham Percy for the delight and edification of children preschool through the third grade. The individual 32-page titles come with a reinforced library binding, a special section defining the fables and providing cogent explanations of their moral lessons, plus a brief introduction to the author and illustrator. Ideal for both school and community libraries, and although available individually, acquisition of the entire series of ’Aesop’s Fables’ is recommended for the benefit of young readers.
