Editorial Review
A noteworthy review of Greek Gods and Goddesses from School Library Journal on November 1, 2019

This series covers the gods’ exciting adventures and exploits with storyteller prose and a smooth flow. Tight sentences capture mythic personalities, aptly presenting them as larger than life, foibles intact. Covers are child-appealing; colorful, cartoon-like illustrations drive texts. Sidebars are ‘midbars:’ Good explanatory background information is set in colored columns between two text columns. ‘Characters and Places’ opens each title with a map of ancient Greece, Mount Olympus, and a gallery of characters’ pictures, names (including pronunciation guides), and descriptions. Back matter includes ‘Principal Gods of Greek Mythology: A Family Tree’ and presents pictures and names clarifying gods’ relationships. VERDICT Well done. Recommended for fans and myth newcomers in public and school libraries.
